Who we are…
At Encounter Church, our name says a lot about us and what we value. If you are like us, we have pictures of places we would love to see and people we would love to meet. It may be the Grand Canyon or the Grand Tetons. If you live in the south, it may be a very snowy place. As for people, it may be a sports figure like Austin Riley, Kirk Cousins, or Lionel Messi. We can read about them, watch videos and accumulate memorabilia, but until we meet those people or visit those places, that knowledge is superficial. We know about them, but we don’t know them. It takes an encounter to change all of that and our perspective, and sometimes even our lives.
At Encounter Church, we want people to have a life changing encounter with the Father, with Jesus, and with the Holy Spirit. We are intentional about creating those spaces and times, because we believe that life change happens when we encounter God. And when we truly encounter the presence of God, a lot can happen, it can be life transforming for us and those around us.
What we are called to do…
1. We are called and want to call people to transformational encounters with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. We are called to encounter one another within the context of genuine/authentic community.
3. We are called to become people through whom others encounter Jesus and the kingdom.
4. We are called to encounter our neighbors, our city, our region, and the world with the message of the kingdom of God.
What we value…
God’s Presence is what we seek.
Authentic Transformation is our goal.
Community/Family is what we seek to foster.
Kingdom Representatives are what we are called to be.
Scripture is our foundational guide.
What we believe…
In general, we believe what the Church has always held to throughout its history. We desire unity on those “big” things, want grace on the “secondary” things, while always being marked by love for fellow members of Christ’s family.
